Heating modernisation with the wibutler individual room control unit
The tranquil community of Hoppegarten, very close to Berlin, is home to a little something special. The local swimming school is the first swimming school in Europe to be built in the rustic ambience of a log cabin. “Get out of the daily grind and into the water in a building that is reminiscent of a holiday with the cosy warmth of wood“ is the motto of the Swimming school in the log cabin.
Problem definition
However, the cosy warm feeling was initially more difficult than expected. This was because it was either too hot or too cold in the various rooms of the swimming school. The heating was running inefficiently and guests and staff suffered from the fact that the temperatures were not kept constant. To solve these problems, the operators decided to modernise the heating with the help of the wibutler individual room control system.
Solution
In the course of this heating modernisation, underfloor heating controllers from Oventrop and Eltako humidity and temperature sensors which in turn were connected to each other via the wibutler pro. Since then, the operators of the swimming school have been able to set desired temperatures (target values) for each room. The humidity and temperature sensors compare these with the actual temperatures (actual values), whereupon wibutler determines the actual heat requirement of each individual room. The Underfloor heating controller are adjusted accordingly.

The installed devices

Smart Home Centre
The wibutler pro control centre connects different devices with each other and enables simple control via the wibutler app.
Temperature & humidity sensor
The Eltako FTFSB temperature and humidity sensors measure the temperature and humidity of different rooms. A solar cell provides the power supply.
Underfloor heating controller
The Oventrop R-Con radio receivers ensure optimum control of the connected underfloor heating system.
Special challenge of heating modernisation
However, the modernisation of the heating system was made more difficult by the local conditions. The large quantities of water - easily understandable for a swimming school - and the large floor area put the wireless technologies of the wibutler OS to the test.
The solution to this challenge was found in the close collaboration between the local trade partner IHB. Ltd. and wibutler's technical field service. A reach measurement was carried out together at the start of the project and four EnOcean repeater which ensure stable radio transmission.
