Last week, our colleague Benjamin Schumacher, Key Account Manager at wibutler, gave an exciting presentation at the Peter Jensen Foundation. He presented the IoT platform for digital building technology and emphasised how important smart home and smart building technologies are for the HVAC trade and HVAC training (plumbing, heating, air conditioning). The most important points are summarised for you here. You can also watch the presentation again in full at the end.

About wibutler
What is that?
wibutler was founded in 2011 as a research project for a smart radiator thermostat at Münster University of Applied Sciences and is now in the hands of Viessmann, Oventrop, BEGA, Eltako and Kemper. These companies want to use wibutler to establish a standardised IoT industry standard. Over 40 brands for technical building equipment are already using wibutler for cross-manufacturer and cross-trade networking.
With over 10,000 realised projects, wibutler offers a flexible and expandable solution for tradespeople and end users. If you work as a heating engineer, energy consultant or window fitter, you can easily convince your customers of customised smart home solutions with wibutler.

Why is it important?
Benjamin emphasised that the HVAC trade plays a central role in the energy transition because 84% of energy consumption in private households is influenced by this sector. As a tradesperson, you can save a lot of energy with smart home components:
- Demand-led heating control: Saves 10-15% energy.
- Individual room controlSaves approx. 20% of energy.
- Ventilation: Harmonising heating and ventilation saves approx. 9% of energy.
- ShadingCan save approx. 7% of energy.
If you combine these measures, you can save up to 51% of energy in total.
Of course, it should be noted that the figures are not generalised and always depend on the building in question and its characteristics. Nevertheless, the potential savings are enormous, aren't they?

Further advantages
wibutler offers you many possible applications that go far beyond the simple control of heating and ventilation:
- Burglary protectionImmediate detection of uninvited guests.
- Water/fire protectionAutomatic alarm messages and protective measures.
- Shading and lightingOptimum control for comfort and energy savings.
- PV & smart meteringMore independence from expensive electricity suppliers.
The wibutler pro control centre is particularly ingenious. It acts as the centrepiece and makes control super easy, especially in combination with the wibutler app. Whether voice control, time rules or smart scenarios - everything is child's play to set up and use.
Another important point in Benjamin's presentation was the importance of training teachers. wibutler therefore supports vocational training centres by providing teaching materials and training systems. This ensures that the next generation of craftspeople are well prepared for the future.

Conclusion
Benjamin's presentation at the Peter Jensen Foundation showed how wibutler can really change the HVAC trade. With smart technologies, you can not only offer your customers significant energy savings and more comfort, but also open up new revenue opportunities. And best of all, wibutler helps to prepare young talents for the challenges of a connected world during their HVAC training.
