How is the Matter integration for the wibutler pro (2nd gen.) coming along? We have great news: We're another step closer to final certification! Find out what's happened since the last update, why it's all so important and what's coming up next. Spoiler: Things are really moving forward!
Procedure of a
Matter integration
Before a smart home device can call itself Matter-compatible, it must be certified by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA). Various steps are required for successful certification: Firstly, membership of the CSA is required. Members can apply for a manufacturer ID and define a unique product ID for new devices. As soon as the development work for a Matter-compatible device has been completed, it is possible to carry out a voluntary pre-certification test. This test checks the basic Matter functionality of the device. The pre-certification test is not a prerequisite. However, it minimises the risk of only discovering necessary adjustments during the technical test. To speed up the final technical test, it may therefore be advisable to carry out this test in advance. The technical test is mandatory for certification and is carried out by an authorised laboratory such as TÜV or DEKRA. Parallel to this, tests with corresponding certifications for the transmission path are required.
The final certification can only be applied for from the CSA once both tests have been successfully completed. After a detailed assessment, the CSA issues the certificate of conformity, which officially recognises the product as Matter-compatible.

Since the
last update
In the last update, we were able to inform you that we had successfully completed all development work. What has happened since then? We have some really good news: We have completed the TÜV pre-certification test - and passed with flying colours! As described above, this test was not mandatory. However, it confirms that the wibutler pro (2nd gen.) already fulfils all the basic requirements for Matter functionality and will speed up the final technical test. The TÜV has started this test this week.
While the pre-certification test has been running over the past few weeks, we have also prepared the next steps: The required WiFi certification can now also start. Our aim is to complete both tests - the technical test for Matter and WiFi - at the same time.
As soon as we have successfully completed both tests, we can apply for Matter certification. The CSA then checks all the documents and - provided there are no unexpected objections - issues the certificate of conformity. This means that the wibutler pro (2nd gen.) is then officially Matter-compatible.
At this point, we will finally tell you the final release date. Because then only a firmware update will be required so that you can use your wibutler pro (2nd gen.) as a Matter Bridge.
